Your Job

Do you have a passion for driving operational excellence? We are seeking an experienced Operations Excellence Leader to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in elevating our mill's performance to new heights. This position will oversee the coordination of technical capabilities and corporate resources, working closely with cross-functional teams to understand project scopes and objectives. Reporting directly to the VP/GM, you will have the opportunity to shape and execute a comprehensive 5-year improvement plan.


Our Team

The Brunswick Cellulose facility the largest integrated fluff pulp mill in the country with a modern woodyard, fiberline, three paper machines, waste treatment plant, and utilities operations. The Brunswick Cellulose Mill, located in the southeast corner of Georgia is within minutes of downtown Brunswick and about an hour from Jacksonville, FL to the south and Savannah, GA to the north.


What You Will Do

  • Coordinate and manage technical and operational capabilities, including the coordination of corporate resources, to understand project scopes and objectives.
  • Develop and manage budgets for operational improvement projects, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Oversee hiring, performance management, resource allocation, and provide direction to direct reports (IT, Process Engineering Leader, Process Controls Leader, & Quality Manager)
  • Mentor the Mill Leadership Team and guide the long-term operational improvement efforts of the facility.
  • Develop, manage, and execute a long-term, 5-year strategic Capital Plan
  • Collaborate with capital projects, corporate capabilities, process engineering/controls to identify and address operational inefficiencies and recommend process optimization initiatives.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track progress towards operational goals and targets.
  • Lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives drive efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational performance.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to identify opportunities for innovation and operational excellence.
  • Foster a culture of safety and environmental stewardship, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and promoting a safe working environment.



Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience as a department leader at a pulp/paper facility.
  • Experience in one of the major areas of a pulp/paper facility (pulp, power, paper, etc.)
  • Experience implementing improvement plans and driving operational excellence.
  • Experience using problem-solving and analytical skills to develop strategic plans.



What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or pulp and paper science
  • Project management certification (PMP)
  • Experience in an operations manager, operations excellence, maintenance/reliability, or process engineering leadership position.
  • Knowledge of process optimization strategies and methodologies, such as Six Sigma, Lean, or related frameworks.
