Public Agency Resources (PARS), a subsidiary of Wildan, has a full time opening for an ICC Certified Commercial and Residential Building Inspector in the Payson, Arizona area.

As a Building Inspector, you will be required to conduct inspections before, during, and after construction to ensure that the building and construction site complies with safety, structural, and building code regulations. You will also be required to issue violation notices, stop-work orders, and permits for construction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance and verifies alternate methods of construction to meet the intent of each related code.
  • Provides assistance to architects, engineers, and contractors concerning structural and architectural issues and designs.
  • Reviews assigned construction plans and engineering calculations for structural and architectural components. Ensures compliance with all applicable codes and recommends method of compliance to meet the intent of each related item.
  • Reviews all relevant building and energy codes, provides interpretation and recommendations to ensure compliance with the intent of each code. Interprets and applies standards and regulations.
  • Documents results of inspections.
  • Effectively communicates findings to homeowners and contractors.
  • Coordinates with and assists other field inspectors.
  • Explains and clarifies code related problems with contractor field personnel.
  • Conducts building damage assessment inspections.
  • Provide training and mentoring to current inspectors, coordinate and assist in selection and training of new staff.
  • Follow up on phone calls and compliant issues.
  • Handle customer service issues for walk-ins that need clarification on code-related issues.
  • Serve as a resource for inspectors in the field.
  • Take inspections in assigned areas and perform according to departmental standards.
  • Interpret and apply standards and regulations for Building, Electrical, Elevator, Mechanical, Plumbing.
  • Conduct ride along with field inspectors to provide ongoing supervision and feedback regarding job performance and consistency on calls.
  • Maintain awareness of new developments in the field of inspections; incorporate new developments as appropriate into programs.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must have ICC Certification(s).
  • 1-2 years' experience.
  • Municipal experience highly desirable.
