This position is responsible for the overall operation and administration of a clinical laboratory to ensure the safe, timely and efficient testing of blood samples. This position will also be responsible for ensuring best practices and regulatory compliance in a laboratory that covers Bacteriology, Hematology, Quality Control, Blood Banking and other laboratory testing.

Develop and edits standard operating procedures ensuring compliance with NYS, NJS and FDA regulations.
• Manages, trains, mentors and schedules assigned staff.
• Prepare departmental statistics and reports.
• Review all quality control activities and ensure regulatory compliance of laboratory.
• Assist with in in-service education and competency programs.
• Prepare and monitor departmental budgets.
• Track and ensure adequacy of inventory.
• Work with other departments as a team to further organizational goals.
• Makes recommendations to improve business unit operations.
• Attends professional development workshops as required.
• Participates in continuing education and networking events as required.
• Any related duties as assigned.

Education:

• Bachelor's or higher degree in clinical laboratory technology, or
• Bachelor's or higher degree from a program with a major in biology, chemistry, or the physical sciences, and an advanced certificate in clinical laboratory technology, or
• Education and training sufficient to qualify for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist prior to 2009 as specified in NYS-ED Regulation 79-13.4.

Experience:

• If bachelor's degree with at least four years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience subsequent to qualifying of which at least two years have been spent working in a clinical laboratory having a director at the doctoral level.
• If master's degree with at least two years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience subsequent to qualifying of which at least two years have been spent working in a clinical laboratory having a director at the doctoral level.

Licenses / Certifications:

Current active NY State License as a Clinical Lab Technologist.

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $ 133,900.00. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant's skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
