As a Therapeutic Activities Worker, you will be assigned to the Vocational Therapeutic Activities Department at Norristown State Hospital. Your primary responsibility is to develop, implement, and evaluate vocational activities based on assessment of individuals' strengths and treatment needs. These programs will serve individuals in the civil and forensic units and may overlap or combine various aspects of vocational training, recreation, or occupational therapy.
Under the direction of a Therapeutic Activities Supervisor, you will provide a variety of vocational opportunities in the workshop, greenhouse, computer lab, and on the units. Other responsibilities of the position include monitoring and reporting progress toward treatment objectives; coordinating and documenting the Patient Worker Program in the forensic and civil units; and contributing to the development of patients' individual treatment and recovery plans by making recommendations for treatment objectives and interventions.
