Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, an Emergency Medical Services Community Educator is a valuable member of our team, who will be responsible for coordination of the Difficult Airway Course, community outreach programs and internal education initiatives consistent with the mission of Stony Brook Medicine. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.

Additional duties may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Coordination of quarterly catchment area meetings in conjunction with the EMS medical director.
  • Coordination of seminars for the EMS community at regular intervals on and off site.
  • Coordination of one or two full day conferences per year for the EMS community.
  • Participates in the training of new employees as directed.
  • Provide advanced level CME to all staff as directed.
  • Coordination of ACLS, PALS and BLS classes as assigned.
  • Participates in use of the Simulance for staff and the EMS community.
  • Participates in EMS process improvement activities as requested.
  • Coordinates USAR and other response teams as assigned.
  • Development of external relationships to increase transport/911 volume.
  • Works clinical shifts on the ambulance and helicopter as assigned.

Qualifications

Required: Valid NYS Driver's License. Current NYS Paramedic Certification. Minimum of 5 years current hospital based critical care transport experience, Minimum of 2 years current medical flight experience. Bachelors Degree, or in lieu of degree 7 years of experience as a Paramedic.

Preferred: NYS Instructor Coordinator Certification, Current AHA ACLS Instructor Certification, Certification as a Difficult Airway Couse Instructor.

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

*The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as - $90,000 - $97,000 Base

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

In addition, all UUP positions have an additional $3,087 for location,
