Overview

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Genetic Counselor to the OB/GYN group at Lincoln Medical Center. The Hospital is part of theNYC Health + Hospitals System (NYCHHC). Lincoln is a designated Level I Trauma and Stroke Center and has Centers of Excellence in all medical specialties including its award- winning Cancer and Breast Centers.

The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Weill-Cornell Medical College to maintain its high healthcare delivery standards.

Responsibilities

The Genetic counselor schedule is Weekdays- Daytime and will be working with medical the geneticist to interview/screen and follow up patients referred to genetics as well as:

    Evaluating family history and medical records to assess risks of fetal development, the chance of occurrence or recurrence of a genetic condition, birth defect, autism, intellectual disability and other conditions based on family history and pedigree constructed and analyzed
  • Providing information and resources about genetic disorders and available treatments or management strategies
  • Discussing testing options, risks and benefits of testing and possible outcomes with patients to help them make informed decisions.
  • Counseling patients and families on emotional and psychological aspects of genetic disorders.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, and psychologists, social workers to provide comprehensive care.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of genetic screening programs
  • Conducting research to further understand genetic conditions and enhance counseling methods.
Qualifications

  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in genetic counseling preferred
  • Master's in Genetic Counseling
