The Pediatric Pulmonary Division at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure eligible position- Open Rank.

We seek candidates with an established track record of obtaining extramural funding, strong record of publications in translational sciences, and administrative experience beyond his/her own research laboratory. Candidates with research grants and pediatric clinical trials experience are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates will be collaborative scientists with track record of leadership positions in a pediatrics department, Health Sciences Center, Clinical and Translational Sciences Center, or equivalent. In addition, the candidate is expected to have experience with training programs and successful mentorship of trainees and faculty.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish a dynamic research program and aggressively pursue extramural funding, In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Department's education mission

Environment: The Department of Pediatrics is located on the UNM Health Sciences Campus, which includes the School of Medicine, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, and College of Population Health. The School of Medicine delivers high-quality comprehensive patient care and education and cutting-edge biomedical science to the people of New Mexico and beyond. There are over 1200 faculty members at the UNM School of Medicine contributing to UNM's rich and diverse research environment. The UNM Health Sciences Center is the State's principal biomedical research center and offers state-of-the-art core facilities. The UNM Health Sciences Center includes a Clinical and Translational Science Center, an NCI designated Cancer Center, Centers of Basic Research Excellence (CoBRE) for Autophagy, Inflammation and Metabolism (AIM) and for Metals in Biology and Medicine (CMBM), Center for Molecular Discovery, and other centers and programs (https://hsc.unm.edu/research/centers-programs). These Centers provide infrastructure and productively serve as an intellectual hub for the study of metabolic diseases

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate (PhD., PharmD, PsyD.) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in training programs and mentorship of trainees and faculty.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in obtaining extramural funding for research projects.
  • A strong publication record indicative of impactful research contributions.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a leader and build collaborative interdisciplinary teams within and across departments in a large medical Center.
  • Experience in research administrative roles, preferably in a clinical or translational research setting.
  • Demonstrated scholarly and/or professional achievement with distinction sufficient to merit appointment at the Rank of associate professor or professor.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
