The University of New Mexico is seeking Program Manager to join the Department of Dental Medicine, Division of Dental Services. The Department of Dental Medicine has a primary mission of delivering education and a full spectrum of clinical care.

The Department of Dental Medicine at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque is looking for a full-time Program Manager to participate in the development of, and to oversee implementation and administration of Dental's Special Needs policies, systems, and procedures. Additionally, this position will help prepare financial and operational analysis for special care dental program, the department and the creation/expansion of new/existing programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages and oversees the administrative and daily operations of the Special Care Dental Program, ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal policies and regulations.
  • Provides direct supervision to the Special Care HSC Staff, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • May act as the indirect supervisor for two UNMMG staff should their supervisor be unavailable.
  • Designs and develops or assists with design and development of the Special Care Dental Program.
  • Manages contract, grant, and/or state funding; approves and monitors budget expenditures; prepares budget revisions; provides interim status reports on all accounts; oversees, coordinates, and/or assists with proposal writing to develop additional funding.
  • Provides technical and/or professional coordination and leadership in the execution of day-to-day program/project activities, as appropriate to program objectives and area of expertise.
  • Participates in the development of annual operating budgets and provides fiscal direction to the unit.
  • Develops and implements systems and processes to establish and maintain records for the operating unit.
  • Oversees and/or coordinates the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, and presents comprehensive statistical and narrative program reports.
  • Assists in producing, developing, advertising, and marketing project(s) and/or product(s) in various media such as print and video; may assist in developing teaching materials, handouts, news releases, pamphlets, and brochures.
  • Assists in establishing and implementing short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Collaborates with university departments, programs, projects, local and state school systems, and/or community organizations to consolidate resources and enhance programs.
  • Develops or assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient operation of the program/project.
  • May serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.

Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience 2 of which are management level experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or Accounting
  • Experience supervising three or more employees
  • Experience with UNM Banner, Chrome River, and HR Reports
  • Knowledge of School of Medicine Internal Procedures
  • Experience overseeing a University Program
  • Experience obtaining extramural funding
