Overview

Pharming is seeking to hire a Global Head, Business Development & Alliance Management to spearhead all Business Development & Licensing activities. Our goal is for this individual to collaborate with Preclinical Research, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs and Commercial Strategy to develop and enhance an ambitious strategy for external innovation for Pharming Group N.V. Successful execution will involve effective integration of assets and oversight of Alliance Management activities. The position will have direct reports and will lead Pharming's BD&L professionals.

Key Responsibilities

The Global Head, Business Development & Alliance Management will be responsible for a wide variety of matters in support of Pharming's growth as we increase the number of both pipeline and marketed products.

Core functions include:

  • Developing a robust BD strategy which fits with the current pipeline/portfolio needs
  • Supporting the BD&L team in identifying opportunities
  • Managing M&A work through close coordination with Finance, Legal and Compliance
  • Communicating efficiently and impactfully with internal stakeholders
  • Establishing position within the CBO leadership team through collaboration and engagement
  • Leadership of the BD&L team which translates into:
    • Aligning focus of BD&L activities with company strategy
    • Identifying high quality opportunities consistent with Pharming needs, in a timely fashion
    • Assessing opportunities through collaboration with internal stakeholders
    • Sounding recommendations regarding specific transactions
    • Navigating through internal processes towards a clear decision
    • Implementation of collaborations and alliance
    • Act as the single point of contact for the organization in all matters concerning.
  • This is a hybrid role; 2 to 3 days at Warren, NJ office.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD / MD preferred, ideally combined with an MBA.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Business Development & Alliance Management experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid scientific knowledge in Rare Disease therapeutic areas of interest (immunology, non-oncology hematology, respiratory).
  • Credible experience of involvement in BD&L evaluation activities or innovative product development.
  • Ability to translate science into commercial value and to challenge business cases.
  • Ability to present and obtain endorsement by senior management on complex projects through evidence-based communication.
  • Possesses a delivery mindset with a strong external network in biopharmaceutical community.
  • Ability to communicate with high impact with Executive Committee.
  • Possesses strong leadership skills - people focused.
