How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Global Process Safety transformation manager is responsible and accountable for driving the implementation of the process safety FIX program within ALAM and through the organization. This role directly reports to the Global HSES director and works functionally with the HSES teams and the Execution teams, and more especially closely with the process safety engineers. This manager will adjust the process safety assessment methods used as needed to enhance our process safety management and fix the gaps highlighted by the process safety deep-dive audit scheduled in H1-2024 and by the first diagnosis performed by the Global HSES director of ALAM.

This role owns the implementation of the ALAM fix roadmap related to the process safety enhancement with the objective to enhance the robustness of our process safety management system and dramatically decrease the number of potential severe process safety events.

The role is to demonstrate leadership, initiative, solution implementation, process safety application, knowledge and skills in a fast paced and very dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and adjust the PHA methods used within ALAM to enhance the human factor assessment and embed the recommendations of the Process Safety deep-dive audit performed in H1-2024;

  • Lead the review of the existing PHAs to apply and validate the new PHA methods and to embed the chemistry deep-dive learning;

  • Onboard the process safety engineers in the adjustment of the PHA methods to benefit their experience and to leverage with the collective intelligence;

  • Work with the engineering to define all the necessary adjustments related to the steps of process safety assessment along the engineering process;

  • Train the process safety engineers regarding the new process safety method application and onboard them in the revision of the existing PHAs for method validation;

  • Drive the definition and the implementation of all the corrective actions necessary to fix the recommendations from the deep dive process safety audit;

  • Prepare a training package and train the HSES managers regarding the process safety monitoring to have on site (including but not limited to the EIS management supervision...), with the support of the process safety engineers;

  • Monitor the efficiency and drive the continuous improvement of the Management of Change process;

  • Propose several relevant indicators to monitor the efficiency of the Process Safety Management within ALAM and set-up them to limit as much as possible the related administrative workload;

  • Prepare a training and communication strategy for the enhancement of the process safety culture at all levels across ALAM;

  • Form effective partnerships with other organizations and functions to align on shared strategies and goals;

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or advanced chemical engineering degree;

  • 8+ years experience in Process Safety methodologies and tools like Loss Prevention, LOPA, HAZOP, PHA, F&EI;

  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to multitask;

  • Experience working with highly hazardous chemicals; toxic, flammable, pyrophoric;

  • Experience in organizational transformation projects;

  • Self-starter with the ability to perform well under pressure and changing priorities;

  • Ability to communicate concisely and effectively in written and verbal formats with stakeholders at multiple levels in the business;

  • Ability to work and travel globally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Process engineering experience in chemical industry;

  • 8+ years experience with associated domestic and global regulations such as OSHA PSM, USEPA RMP, and KGS;

  • Root cause investigation and analysis skills;

  • Deep knowledge of international explosive and fire management standards;

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification or equivalent knowledge;

  • Statistical Process Control, Statistical Quality Control experience;

  • Able to learn technical chemical processes quickly in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
