Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial services organization that serves the Episcopal Church, located in Midtown Manhattan. CPG was founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy of the Episcopal Church. Since then, its mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing.


The Associate- Private Equityanalyzes financial and market information and generates insights to assist in the execution of the Church Pension Fund's global private equity strategy. The associate must have a demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-performance and fast-paced team environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Supports the management of the private equity portfolio, helping to monitor existing managers and evaluate a portfolio consisting of over 70 managers spread across venture capital, growth equity and control-oriented buyouts.
  • Compiles and analyzes comparative performance metrics and draws conclusions in the evaluation of existing investment managers
  • Drives investment due diligence processes with oversight from senior team members.
  • Contributes to investment recommendations with input from senior team members.
  • Provides oversight of internal and external reporting and analysis.
  • Measures, models, and evaluates various private equity portfolio attributes; tasks include model development and use of an array of portfolio management tools.
  • Attends meetings with investment managers with or without senior staff, actively participates in discussions with managers, and summarizes meetings to communicate conclusions about investment managers or other service providers.
  • Works on ad hoc projects as needed.
  • Effective performance of the essential functions of this position requires regular in-person, on-site interaction with colleagues, both for purposes of relationship building and meaningful collaboration

  • Experience in private equity fund performance evaluation and attribution.
  • Familiarity with private investment fund structures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in institutional-quality investment research and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in MS Office with emphasis on Excel.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, Domo, Microsoft Power BI preferred.
  • Familiarity with coding languages used for data analysis including SQL, Redshift, VBA and Python a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to reach conclusions and communicate them effectively both internally and externally.
  • Willingness to research and develop expertise in new investment strategies, themes and other opportunities in the private equity space.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BA/BS required, in Finance preferred
  • MBA or MS in Finance preferred
  • CFA or CAIA candidate preferred
  • 2+yrs investment related experience demonstrating analytical aptitude

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Commuting to the office, on average, three days a week. Extensive use of a computer keyboard is a demand of the position to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. WORK ENVIRONMENT:Hybrid (two days working from home, three days working in a standard office environment, Tue-Thurs.). Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000
