Job Overview:

The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Clinical Operations Department with coordinating staffing and scheduling

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Analytical, organizational and communications skills
  • High School Diploma
  • Excellent computer and communication skills
  • Medical Terminology
  • Customer service skills and pleasant phone manner
  • Ability to work independently

Preferred:

  • Bachelor s degree

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Evening Shift- 3pm to 11:30pm
  • Every other weekend and holiday rquired
  • Per Diem

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews Nursing Daily Tracks sheets with appropriate head nurses or charge nurses to assure correct staffing on nursing units
  • Responsible for shift to shift staffing activity to support the adjustment of patient placement, admissions, discharges and transfers
  • Makes staffing assignments based on patient needs, staff competency and equity of workloads for the units
  • Recognizes changes occurring on units and adjusts staffing as necessary
  • Allocates available nursing staff with individual unit census and classifications
  • Informs Nursing Directors and Nursing Leadership of any unresolved staffing and potential unit problems
  • Gives staffing report to the Nursing Supervisor; alerting them of any problems and communicating staffing plans for the incoming shift
  • Provides assistance and support in the staffing process to the weekend supervisors
  • Makes appropriate changes on the posted schedule and track sheets in Workforce Timekeeper (KRONOS) in a timely manner
  • Assigns coverage for suicidal patients and Safety watch patients
  • Maintains and archives Safety/Suicide log sheets, sick/absentee log sheets and keeps nursing daily tracks up to date
  • Compiles daily 24 hour staffing summary (Nursing Daily Tracks)
  • Receives sick/absent calls, notifies units and records accurate information in absentee log and Nursing Daily Tracks Sheets
  • Telephone calls are answered promptly and courteously with accurate messages taken when required.
  • Communication, cooperation and assistance are given promptly in a clear courteous manner to co-workers, hospital staff and patient family members. Deals tactfully with all nursing employees and maintains a good working relationship with payroll, personnel and nursing departments
  • Employee must carry out the principles of positive guest relations by maintaining a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all patients, guests, hospital employees and physician offices by:
  • Greets and acknowledges patients, guests and hospital employees by name, immediately upon contact
  • Exhibits friendly helpful behavior by responding to the needs of patients guests, hospital employees, and physician offices
  • Respects and protects the privacy of patients and the confidentiality of information
  • Responsible for ensuring patient reaches destination, within the Hospital, safely and timely manner
  • Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and information to the age of the patients served, which may include pediatrics and adolescents (and their parents or guardians), adult and geriatric patients
  • Assesses data reflective of each patient s status and interprets information needed in order to identify each patient s specific health care needs
  • Demonstrates excellent troubleshooting abilities, responds positively to changing circumstances to maximize opportunities and minimize problems
  • Acts decisively and takes effective action
  • Proactively supports the management team and provides leadership in their absence.
  • Functions as preceptor for new staff members
  • Reports progress to Department Managers
  • Assists in identifying areas requiring improvement
